Who we are
Satie is a personal music practice studio that helps you log sessions, organise your repertoire, capture musical ideas and track your progress. This policy explains what we collect, why, and how it is protected. Satie is operated by Juan Alberto Otero, who is the data controller for information collected through the Service.
What we collect
- Account data: email address and an encrypted password (or a Google sign-in identifier).
- Practice data you create: pieces, composers, notes, mastery, links, practice sessions, mood, ideas, tags.
- Files you upload: PDF scores, audio recordings and voice memos.
- Technical data: minimal logs needed to operate the service (timestamps, error reports).
We do not use tracking cookies, advertising trackers, or third-party analytics that profile you.
Payments & billing
If you subscribe to a paid plan, your payment and billing information (such as name, email address, and payment method details) is collected and processed by our Merchant of Record, Paddle.com. Paddle handles all payment processing, tax, invoices, and related customer service. We do not store full payment card details on our own servers.
How your data is protected
- Row-Level Security: every database table enforces, at the database level, that you can only read or modify your own rows.
- Private file storage: uploads are stored in a private bucket and served via short-lived signed URLs scoped to your account.
- Encryption in transit: all traffic uses HTTPS/TLS.
- Encryption at rest: the database and file storage are encrypted on disk (AES-256) by our cloud provider.
- Password hygiene: passwords are hashed with bcrypt and checked against the Have I Been Pwned database to block known breached passwords.
Offline data on your device
Satie keeps a local copy of your practice data in your browser (IndexedDB) so it works offline. This copy stays on the device and is only readable by Satie's origin. Signing out and clearing your browser data removes it.
Who can access your data
Only you — and Satie's administrators when strictly necessary for operating or debugging the service. We never sell your data, never share it with advertisers, and never use the contents of your recordings, notes or PDFs to train AI models.
Your rights
- Access & edit: all of your data is visible and editable inside the app.
- Delete: you can permanently delete your account and all of your data from Account settings. This wipes your database rows, uploaded files and sign-in credentials.
- Export: on request we can provide an export of your data — contact us through the app.
